APSU Stadium Sinkhole Remediation

Often in Middle Tennessee, inclement weather or routine construction can cause problems as soft soil settles on top of the limestone rock well beneath ground level. With enough shifting and soil erosion, sinkholes can occur without warning. When that happens, Morgan Contractors knows how to take care of the problem, backfilling and stabilizing sinkholes safely and quickly.

In 2014, Morgan Contractors remediated a sinkhole that opened while underground utilities were being installed at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn. In order to complete the sinkhole remediation that garnered national attention, Morgan Contractors excavated more than 40 feet below the surface at APSU’s Governors Stadium (now Fortera Stadium). Morgan employees completed the sinkhole remediation in just four days. Morgan Contractors is capable of remediating sinkholes – both big and small – with capabilities including:

  • Backfilling
  • Excavating
  • Underpinning
  • Graded-filter technique
